🧬 History
🧒 A Seeker of Knowledge (1940–1958)
Born in Honolulu, Leon was raised in a family of historians and occultists. Even in childhood, he deciphered ancient Hermetic glyphs and displayed a natural affinity for arcane texts. He came to Madison in 1958 to study at UW and fell under the mentorship of Susanna Adelina Mayer, a brilliant Hermetic scholarCharacters Draft.
🌌 The Awakening and Hidden Love (1958–1963)
Leon’s Awakening occurred during an Umbra expedition with Susanna, where he experienced visions of ancient relics and timelines folding in on themselves. This journey bound him emotionally to Susanna, though his feelings remained unspoken. Over the next two decades, they retrieved relics and battled Technocrats together across realmsCharacters Draft.
⚔️ The Excalibur Incident (1968)
In the Deep Umbra, Leon was offered what he believed to be Excalibur by a mysterious entity. Though it appeared to be the Lady of the Lake, Leon now suspects it may have been something darker—a Wyrm Incarna or Nameless echo. The blade, now hidden in Madison, exerts an ancient pull, whispering of conquest and fateCharacters Draft.
🩸 The Betrayal of Susanna (1984)
Leon’s world collapsed when Susanna was unmasked as Nephandi and vanished. Devastated, he rallied the Order alongside Gwydion Kelly, but trust in the Hermetics was shattered. Leon remains haunted by love, guilt, and suspicion that parts of the Order are now infected by the NamelessCharacters Draft.
🔮 Paradigm: “Bring Back the Golden Age”
Leon believes the world has fallen from a magickal golden era, corrupted by the Technocracy, hubris, and forgotten betrayals. He believes restoring lost wisdom—and purity—is the only hope.
🧪 Practice: High Ritual Magick

- Susanna still haunts his dreams, and he may not be able to kill her if she returns.
- Books in his library have started rewriting themselves, obscuring references to the Nameless.
🎭 Story Hooks for 1985
- The Council Meeting Leon warns against rushing into conflict, urging deeper investigation into the Nameless' presence.
"I will not allow us to make the same mistakes as our ancestors. Magick is a gift, not a weapon for reckless war."
- The Sword’s Purpose If players uncover Excalibur, Leon must decide: trust them—or keep it hidden.
"This is not just a relic. It is a responsibility. And I do not know if I am strong enough to bear it."
- Final Battle Possibility
- If purified, Excalibur can seal the Nameless—but Leon must sacrifice himself.
- If corrupted, it may possess him, making him a vessel of entropy.
🧠 Optional Mechanics: Excalibur (Relic 5)
- +3 Melee dice, Aggravated Damage, Paradox Shield (5 points/scene)
- Drawback: Willpower roll (Diff 8) each time drawn; failure gives it influence
- After 3 kills with the blade, the Nameless gains a link to Leon’s soul
