Tonight's Crisis

Rebecca Troy, Tremere Primogen of Madison, has been destroyed inside her own chantry. The first evidence points toward Madison's werewolves. Claw damage, blood, coarse fur, and a broken token of the werewolf treaty were recovered at the scene.

There is one problem. The first signs of violence begin inside the chantry, beyond wards built to stop exactly this kind of intruder.

Prince Alexander Hawk has summoned the Primogen Council. You must determine whether the werewolves broke the peace before suspicion becomes retaliation. Find the truth, protect your interests, and decide who will rule when the council adjourns.

Madison's Long Peace
The Prince
Alexander Hawk holds praxis, recognizes domains, enforces the Traditions, and speaks for Madison. His former Anarchs remember the revolution that put him on the throne.
The Seneschal
Brandy Madison was the Prince Alexander overthrew. She remains at court with old alliances, deep wealth, and the loyalty of those who still regard her as the city's true center of gravity.
The Primogen
The clan representatives stand between Alexander's former rebels and Brandy's old guard. They trade votes, favors, secrets, and boons while keeping the government from tearing itself apart.

Thirty years ago, an Anarch revolution ended two decades of civil war. Alexander won the throne, but did not destroy the old regime. Since then, compromise inside the court and a fragile treaty with the werewolves have kept Madison alive. Rebecca's death threatens both.

The Vampires at the Table
These descriptions are public court reputations. Private loyalties are rarely so simple.
Kindred Position Court Reputation
Alexander Hawk Gangrel Prince Former Anarch war leader and defender of the werewolf treaty. His revolution won the city, but not every institution within it.
Brandy Madison Malkavian Seneschal Former Prince and architect of the old order. Patient, entrenched, and still dangerous.
Tori Redford Gangrel Primogen Park ranger, veteran of the Anarch war, and public advocate for peace with the werewolves.
David Boston Brujah Primogen Hard-edged survivor with deep street influence. Loyal to Alexander and willing to use force.
Kyle Schuller Malkavian Primogen A pacifist broken by cruelty, feared for prophecies that arrive before disaster. Openly hostile to Brandy.
Jan None Nosferatu Primogen Broker of information, favors, and quiet leverage. Her network reaches beneath the city.
Deven Tridel Toreador Primogen Singer, patron, and impeccable court presence. Publicly aligned with Brandy.
Victor King Ventrue Primogen Industrial power broker and champion of the old guard. His wealth and mortal influence make him difficult to oppose.
What Every Character Knows
  • Rebecca Troy is dead, and the Tremere seat on the council is vacant.
  • Her chantry should have been one of the most secure havens in Madison.
  • The first signs of violence begin inside the chantry, beyond its outer defenses.
  • John Morgan has sealed the chantry and restricted access to the evidence.
  • The city is divided between Alexander's former Anarchs and Brandy's old guard.
  • The werewolf treaty has kept Madison alive. If it breaks, neither side can control what follows.
  • Any public breach of the Masquerade could turn a political murder into a citywide disaster.
Rumors Rebecca Left Behind
Jay Dee
Rebecca had renewed contact with a reclusive occultist called Jay Dee. Some Kindred claim he once used the mortal identity James Duane Doty, the founder of Madison.
New Avalon
Rebecca was searching for a road into a lost place associated with Madison's vanished mages. It is described as a kingdom of impossible roads, living stories, ancient Magick, and danger hidden behind wonder.
Four New Mages
No mage has openly controlled Madison since 1985. Now four newly Awakened strangers are rumored to have entered the city.
The Capitol
Rebecca's notes repeatedly mention the Capitol and a source of power beneath it. Clan Tremere refuses to explain what she found there.
Questions Before the Council
  1. How did the attacker reach a sealed chamber without triggering the outer wards?
  2. Why do the first signs of violence begin inside the chantry?
  3. Who benefits if the court declares the werewolf treaty broken tonight?
  4. What was Rebecca trying to reach through the Capitol, and who knew about her work?
  5. Why have Madison's werewolves and their usual intermediaries gone silent?
  6. What evidence can survive scrutiny by the Prince, the Primogen, and Clan Tremere?
Shared Objective

Do not let fear make the court predictable. If the evidence is false, expose the lie. If the treaty can still be saved, prevent a war. Whatever waits beneath the Capitol must not inherit Madison while its rulers destroy one another.
